Job Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Java Technical Lead / Product Owner to lead a development POD while contributing directly to backend development. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Core Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, Kafka, and CI/CD pipelines.
This role combines technical leadership with Product Owner responsibilities, including coordinating development activities, working closely with business stakeholders, prioritizing requirements, and ensuring successful delivery.
Airline industry experience is strongly preferred, particularly in commercial domains such as flight booking, shopping, pricing, and revenue management.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Core Java, Advanced Java, and Spring Boot.
Lead the development POD, providing technical direction, code reviews, and guidance to team members.
Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices-based applications.
Take ownership of assigned features, technical deliverables, and production support activities.
Perform Product Owner responsibilities, including gathering requirements, defining user stories, maintaining the product backlog, and prioritizing work.
Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, QA, DevOps, and other teams to align technical solutions with business needs.
Work with Apache Kafka to implement event-driven and asynchronous communication.
Develop unit and integration tests using JUnit and Mockito.
Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support automated builds, testing, and deployments.
Use Docker for containerization and deployment of applications.
Identify performance bottlenecks and ensure application scalability, security, and maintainability.
Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and delivery reviews.
Coordinate dependencies, resolve technical challenges, and ensure timely delivery of committed features.
Required Technical Skills
Strong hands-on experience with Core Java and Advanced Java.
Solid understanding of OOP concepts, Collections, Multithreading, Concurrency, Exception Handling, and Java 8 features.
Strong experience with Spring Boot and Microservices architecture.
Hands-on experience designing and developing REST APIs.
Experience with Apache Kafka, including Producers, Consumers, Topics, and Partitions.
Experience writing unit and integration tests using JUnit and Mockito.
Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized applications.
Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or Azure DevOps.
Working knowledge of Maven or Gradle and Git.
Strong technical leadership, communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
Ability to balance hands-on development with team leadership and Product Owner responsibilities.
Product Owner / Leadership Skills
Experience leading a development team or POD.
Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and user stories.
Experience managing product backlogs, prioritizing requirements, and coordinating sprint deliverables.
Ability to communicate effectively with business stakeholders and technical teams.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
Preferred Qualifications
Airline industry experience, preferably in commercial airline applications.
Experience with flight booking, shopping, pricing, reservations, or revenue management systems.
Knowledge of Kubernetes.
Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Familiarity with integration testing and automation frameworks.
